A group of researchers has just given a solution of killing cancer cells by using toxic substances in death cap mushroom (Amanita phalloides), which does not harm the body.
Lethal toxic a-amanitin in death cap mushroom may kill cancer cells
It’s a lethal a-amanitin poison found in white death cap mushroom. It can destroy any cells whether they are healthy cells or cancer cells.
Based on these characteristics, the researchers at the German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg Tumor Disease Center, Medical Research Institute of Max Planck and other scientists have found the way to kill cancer cells based on the toxic a-amanitin poison.
In order that the toxic substances does not affect the body, the researchers have used a device to take the toxic substances to the right place at the cancer cells in EpCAM protein. This method has been tested clinically on animals such as mice and showed that two doses of highly toxic substances in death cap mushroom can reduce tumor growth at a rate of 90% without causing any harm the liver and other organs of such animals.
It is known that EpCAM is a type of epithelial cell in which most of the malignant tumors are derived from. Those who have pancreatic, breast and ovarian cancer are caused by excessive production of EpCAM. By using toxic substances in the death cap mushroom, it is hoped to substantially reduce EpCam.
